Make Kisumu a fully fledged city, Uhuru told
President Uhuru Kenyatta has been urged to make Kisumu a fully-fledged city by giving it charter like Nairobi and Mombasa.
Speaking at State Lodge Kisumu during the National Music Festival State Concert, Kisumu Central MP Ken Obura said Kisumu city operates without a charter-an issue that puts the residents at a disadvantage.
Obura said that with a charter, employees-especially civil servants in Kisumu-will have the right to ask for hardship allowances.
He said that the charter will help improve the city’s placement, adding that it will spur development and foster the realisation of Vision 2030.
The legislator also called on President Kenyatta to consider granting a charter to Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital so that it can be recognised as a referral hospital in the county.
