Makueni cop killer arrested

Police in Makueni have arrested the police officer who shot dead his colleague and injured two others at Wote police station in Makueni County on Thursday.

Confirming his arrest, Makueni police commander Joseph Napeiyan said the suspect, Friday Barasa, was cornered by boda boda operators in the region while he was trying to escape.

The rifle which was used to kill the officer, was later recovered a few meters from the police station.

Meanwhile, medics at Makueni level 4 hospital led by Dr Emmanuel Laiposha said that one of the injured officers was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital for further treatment.

Denis Wanjala, the deceased, was serving at the division as deputy OCS.

His body has since been moved to the Makueni Hospital Mortuary.
