Makueni man caught on video assaulting wife arrested

The man captured on camera viciously assaulting his wife over infidelity claims has been arrested in Makueni.

Daudi Nzomo, 36, was on Thursday morning apprehended by police in Masumba Ngoo shopping centre, Makueni County after residents disclosed his location to the police.

He is currently being detained at Ngoo AP camp and many area residents are camped outside the station demanding the police hand him to them.

The video of Nzomo brutalising his wife as bystanders filmed and pleaded with him to stop, went viral angering many Kenyans who demanded for his arrest. The DPP ordered for his arrest together with the bystanders.

His wife, Winfried Mwende is still at Makueni County Hospital where she was admitted after the brutal attack.

Mwende, speaking from her hospital bed, said she remembers pleading with her husband to stop attacking her but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

“When I inquired why he was assaulting me, he said he wanted me dead, warning me against screaming for help,” she said Mwende.

The mother-of-three says she lost consciousness from the beating and remembers finding herself  in hospital where she was rushed by well-wishers.

According to Mwende, Nzomo last beat her up “seriously” in 2013.

“Our parents have always reconciled us every time we have had a disagreement. Since July this year, my husband has been threatening me of unspecified action whenever I tried to clear the air on allegations of him cheating on me,” said Mwende.
