Malaba OCS under pressure to quit as five guards attacked

Residents of Malaba town in Busia County are demanding the resignation of OCS Chacha Marwa and his deputy over allegations of abetting crime in the border town.

This comes after five guards were attacked on Monday, October 10 at 3:00 am by unknown assailants. The attack forced the residents, led by Teso North Chamber of Commerce chairman, Fred Papa, to paralyze operations in the town for several hours.

Teso North Deputy County Commissioner, Moses Lilan, and OCPD, Onesmus Kombe, addressed irate residents at the road block area in a bid to calm them down.

“Even if the National Government deploys 100 security personnel to the border town, insecurity concerns will remain a challenge without your co-operation,” said Lilan.

Three guards are receiving treatment at Busia County Referral Hospital while the other two are receiving treatment at Bungoma Hospital.

The guards were manning locals shops within the area when they were attacked.
