Malaria outbreak kills three in Elgeyo Marakwet

Three people have succumbed to malaria at Arror area in Elgeyo Marakwet County following an outbreak of the disease.

Confirming the incident, area Chief Timothy Kilimo said the three – one child and two men – passed on while receiving treatment at a local clinic.

The administrator added that the said clinic has witnessed an increase in the number of patients with malaria-like symptoms in the recent past.

He, however, appealed to the locals not to ignore any malaria-like symptoms, further urging them to seek medical help immediately.

The death of the three comes barely a day after a student also succumbed to malaria at Iten Referral Hospital while receiving treatment.
