Male teachers to undergo DNA test in Moi Girls school rape scandal

All male teaching and non-teaching staff living within Moi Girls’ School, Nairobi have been ordered to undergo DNA testing as investigations into the rape saga at the institution heats up.

It is alleged that a 15-year-old Form 2 female student was assaulted and raped while going to the washrooms at around 2am on Saturday. She is said to have been attacked by three men who had made their way into the dormitory under unclear circumstances.

The Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti issued the directive as detectives seek to establish the identity of the suspects.

Citizen Digital has since learnt that detectives have zeroed in on one of the male teachers at the school, who is believed to have committed the heinous act jointly with others.

The school was on Sunday closed for one week after parents stormed the institution on Saturday evening when the rape allegations hit the media.

Education Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed who announced the closure of the school, said the government will conduct a security assessment at the institution, adding that they will use the incident to formulate a security policy for schools countrywide.

She, however, said investigators need more time to probe the incident, vowing to ensure all those responsible are brought to book.
