Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa has been arrested at her home in Kakuyuni, Malindi.

She was arrested at 3am on Wednesday following an incident where a man was shot dead after rival ODM party supporters clashed in Ganda Ward, Malindi.

Before the scuffle, Jumwa is reported to have stormed an ODM agents meeting that was taking place at Reuben Katana’s home.

Katana is the ODM candidate for the upcoming Ganda Ward by-elections.

The meeting was reportedly meant to plan on how ODM agents would handle the by-election on October 17.

The Malindi legislator reportedly asked why such a meeting was being held at night after the campaign period has lapsed.

ODM officials however insisted that the meeting was for agents training.

An unknown number of people are reported to have been injured during the confrontation.

Malindi sub-county Police Commander Phillip Wambugu said investigations into the incident are underway.
