Mama Lucy Kibakis body to arrive Sunday
The body of former First Lady Mama Lucy Kibaki will arrive in Kenya on Sunday from London, UK.
Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe said former President Mwai Kibaki and his family will accompany the body of the former First Lady from UK where she passed away.
Kiraithe says upon arrival, the government will announce three days of national mourning.
Lucy Kibaki died on Tuesday morning at the Bupa Cromwell hospital where she had been flown earlier for specialised treatment.
President Uhuru Kenyatta made the announcement saying that Mama Lucy had been unwell for over a month.
“Her Excellency will be remembered for her immense contribution in the development of our country. Especially notable was Her Excellency’s virtues of leadership and commitment to improving the wellbeing of the ordinary Kenyans, in particular her focus on tackling HIV/AIDS, which will remain an inspiration to many,” read the statement signed by President Kenyatta on Tuesday.
The government spokesman says condolence books will be at Harambee house, KICC, Consolata Shrine, Holy family and headquarters of all the 47 counties.
