Mama Lucys body leaves Lee Funeral Home

The convoy transporting the body of Mama Lucy has left the Lee Funeral Home, for a brief stop-over at former President Mwai Kibaki’s Muthaiga home in Nairobi, before heading to Othaya, Nyeri county for the burial.

The convoy which will use the Nairobi-Karatina-Mukurweini-Othaya Road, is expected to arrive at Othaya Approved School grounds at 10am.

Over 3,000 dignitaries, including President Uhuru Kenyatta and other national leaders, will be among the 20,000 mourners expected to attend a requiem Mass at the Approved School Grounds before the burial ceremony.

According to Interior PS Karanja Kibicho, who is also the national chairman of the burial committee, the Mass will start at exactly 11 am.

Kibicho says security officers from the Recce Squad, Administration Police, the Kenya Police and the National Youth Service have been deployed at the retired President Kibaki’s Othaya home and the Approved School Grounds.

Mama Lucy will be buried at her home in Kanyange.
