Mama Sarah Obama arrives in Nairobi ahead of President Obama’s arrival

Mama Sarah Obama has arrived in Nairobi today (Friday) to meet her step-grandson US President Barack Obama who is expected to jet in tonight.
Mama Sarah left the Kisumu International Airport shortly after 11am accompanied by a few family members.

Mama Sarah is in Nairobi after it was clear that Obama would not visit his native home in Kogelo.

According to a family member, Mr Said Obama, there has been no official communication regarding the US president’s visit to his native home.

Obama departed from Washington early this morning with a delegation of some of his top officials for an African trip that is bringing him to Kenya and Ethiopia.

Obama is accompanied by his national security advisor Susan Rice, foreign policy aide Ben Rhodes and white house spokesman Josh Earnest.

Speaking during an exclusive interview with the BBC shortly before boarding Air Force One, Obama said the US will strengthen partnership with Kenya in the fight against terrorism.
