Man, 26, hangs self in police cell

Police in Makueni County have launched investigations into an incident where a 26 year old man allegedly committed suicide in police cell at Sultan Hamud Police Station.

Mukaa Police boss, Charles Muthui, confirmed the incident saying the young man was arrested on Wednesday (August 23) after threatening to kill his mother.

The suspect, identified as James Mbondo, was later on arraigned in court but denied bond.

Officers found his lifeless body hanging inside the cell bathroom.
