Man, 26, jailed for life for defiling minor repeatedly

A 26-year-old man was on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment by a Nakuru court after he was found guilty of defiling a 10-year-old girl on several occasions.

According to the victim, the accused, Setrick Khanga’hi, lured him with sweets into a maize plantation at Banglandesh Estate, Nakuru West sub county on September 29, 2014 while she was on her way home from school.

The court further heard that the accused covered her mouth on the fateful day in the farm and warned her against screaming.

The victim narrated that Khanga’hi made it a habit and defiled the girl who was then in Standard Two on two more occasions.

With prosecution presented eight witnesses in the case where Khang’ani was facing two counts of defilement and committing an indecent act with a child on diverse dates between September 30 and October 5 2014.

In her ruling, Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly said that prosecution had supplied sufficient witnesses including a medical doctor who confirmed that the child was indeed defiled by the man he identified in court.

Khang’ani was handed a life sentence and given 14 days to appeal.
