Man, 30, stabs girlfriend to death in Ruiru

Police have arrested a 30-year-old man who is accused of stabbing his girlfriend to death at his house in Kahawa Wendani, Ruiru Constituency on Sunday night.

The girlfriend, Edinas Finalis, is said to have had an on and off relationship with the man, Maxwell Ochieng, who allegedly murdered her during her last visit.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Gitahi, Ochieng’s neighbor, said the status of their relationship was not clear.

“We have been seeing the two around. The lady normally comes and goes but we could not tell if she was his wife,” says Gitahi.

Area OCPD Isaac Thuranira confirmed the incident adding that the girl graduated from Kenyatta University last week.

Ochieng had reportedly resisted arrest, threatening policemen who had arrived at the scene with a knife.

Police only managed to arrest the suspect after they threw teargas canisters into the house and sprayed the house with water using a fire engine.

He was found injured after he stabbed himself ostensibly in a bid to commit suicide.

The watchman manning the gate told Citizen Digital that Ochieng’s brother had earlier tried to get him to open the door but he chased him away, prompting him to call the police.

Area MP Esther Gathogo advised the youth to learn to accept rejection and forge on with life rather than resulting to killing each other.

The suspect was later taken to Ruiru Police Station.
