Man, 35, lynched after breaking into grannys bedroom

A 35-year-old man was on Sunday evening lynched by enraged residents of Chepkanga village in Uasin Gishu County.

The deceased is said to sneaked into the elderly woman’s bedroom and hid under the bed with an intent of raping her.

His plans, however, did not come to fruition as his intended victim, the granny, aged 79, heard movements beneath her bed.

Frightened, she ran outside locking the door behind her and yelled, an action that caught the attention of her neighbours.

The man was forced to dismantle the roof of the house and managed to escape but the angry mob that had gathered outside pursued and lynched him.

Confirming the incident, the Eldoret OCPD Richard Omanga said the suspect died as he was being rushed to the hospital.

Mr. Omanga warned the locals against taking the law into their own hands, urging them to hand over suspects to the police instead of meting out mob justice on them.
