Man, 36, sentenced to life in prison for defiling 9-year-old daughter

A 36-year-old man was on Wednesday sentenced to life in prison for defiling his 9-year-old daughter in Taita Taveta County.

Abdhalla Maghanga was found guilty of committing the act at Mwachabo village in Wundanyi on August 27, 2018.

Appearing before Wundanyi Senior Resident Magistrate David Ndungi, Mr. Maghanga denied the charges, further accusing his wife and step mother of framing him.

While delivering the sentencing, however, Magistrate Ndungi said the prosecution had proved the case beyond reasonable doubt.

Mr. Maghanga now has 14 days to appeal the ruling.
