Man, 40, arrested after allegedly defiling 4-year-old girl

A 40-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling a four-year-old girl at Kongodo village in Kasipul Constituency, Homa Bay County.

The man identified as George Ouma was caught red-handed defiling the minor in the bedroom of her grandmother’s house who he (the suspect) has been inheriting after the death of her husband.

It’s reported that the suspect took advantage of the heavy rains which was witnessed in the area on Saturday evening and grabbed the minor when her grandmother went to harvest rainwater in another house within the same compound.

Senior assistant chief of Kawino Sub Location Joel Owenga said the minor went to visit her grandmother and could not go back to their house due to the heavy rains and the suspect decided to defile her when he was left alone with the minor in the house.

Owenga says that the grandmother who caught the suspect red-handed committing the heinous act with the minor raised an alarm to the locals who rushed to the scene with an intention of killing the suspect.

The administrator says that officers from Oyugis police station rescued the suspect from the angry mob who were baying for his blood after he admitted to have defiled the minor.

The minor was taken to Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital for medical examination while the suspect was detained at Oyugis police station awaiting to be arraigned.
