Man, 40, kills wife before attempting suicide in Siaya

Police have launched investigations into an incident where a 40-year-old man is alleged to have killed his wife before attempting to commit suicide in Kakan village, Siaya County on Tuesday night.

Kennedy Oduor Otieno is said to have murdered his 30-year-old wife Maureen Aoko before consuming a poisonous substance.

According to the area Assistant Chief, Joshua Ombago, the couple is said to have been at home while their 10-year-old son was at a neighbour’s house.

Ombago stated that the tragic incident was discovered when the young boy came back in the morning and tried calling on the parents to open the door for him in vain.

The assistant chief revealed that the boy peeped through the window only to see his mother’s body lying on the floor prompting him to call his grandparents.

On arrival, relatives and friends broke down the door into the house where they found the lifeless body of Ms. Aoko lying on the floor.

The suspect was also found seated on the chair unconscious with foam oozing from his mouth.

The body of the deceased was moved to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary while Otieno is undergoing treatment at the same health facility.
