Man, 44, allegedly sets himself on fire in Bondo

A 44-year-old man allegedly set his body on fire in Bondo town on Tuesday evening.

The burnt body of Edwin Omondi Arunda was discovered by neighbours in Ochong’a estate.

They broke into his house after they noticed smoke coming from inside.

According to Bondo Township Location Chief, Walter Ochieng’, the man is suspected to have doused his body in petrol before setting it ablaze.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi, the administrator said neighbours tried to save the man and some of his belongings including a motorbike but it was too late.

Mr. Ochieng’ added that the deceased’s body has been transferred to Bondo sub-county Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem.

Investigations into the incident are underway.
