Man, 71, arraigned for allegedly raping mentally challenged granddaughter

A 71-year-old man was on Monday arraigned in a Nairobi court for allegedly raping his 19-year-old mentally challenged granddaughter.

John Kasoloyi Nzoka was charged with intentionally and unlawfully committing incest with his granddaughter contrary to Section 20(1) of the Sexual Offences Act of Kenya.

The accused, who was arrested on June 30, 2019, appeared before Magistrate Hellen Okwani.

The court heard that Kasoloyi committed the offence in August 2018 at Mathare North area in Ruaraka within Nairobi County.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.100,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh.200,000.
