Man accused of defiling mentally challenged girl fails to raise Ksh.1M bond

A man suspected to have defiling a mentally challenged girl in Uriri sub county has been remanded after failing to raise Ksh.1million bond.

Area police commander Peter Njoroge said Joseph Otieno Okoth had appeared in court and pleaded not guilty.

It is alleged that he committed the offense in at Kamsaki, South Kanyamago ward in November 2019.

Police have warned that those found to be involved in child abuse will face the full force of the law.

Meanwhile, Migori County Nominated MCA Grace Oyamo urged police to ensure that such cases are followed up to the end.

She said survivors need assurance that justice will be served once the case is prosecuted.

The MCA has also called on all stakeholders in Migori County to join the fight against child abuse.

She lamented that increased cases of defilement in Uriri are worrying and all stakeholders must move with speed to avert the cases.
