Man accused of killing Nakuru prison warder detained for 8 more days

A Nakuru prison warder accused of killing his colleague was on Tuesday detained for 8 more days pending investigations into the incident.

Nakuru Chief Magistrate Josephat Kalo granted police officers more time to hold the suspect, Raymond Kiplimo, as they conclude their probe into the mysterious death of Caroline Chepchirchir, who was a prison warder attached to the Nakuru Women’s Prison.

Mr. Kiplimo, a warder at Nakuru GK Prison, was arrested after the body of the deceased was found dumped at Githioro thickets in Subukia, Nakuru County, on April 10, 2019.

Ms. Chepchirchir had been reported missing on April 2 before being found murdered about a week later with injuries on the head and chest.

A post-mortem examination conducted on her body disclosed that she was strangled and suffocated to death.

According to police records, the accused is said to have accompanied the deceased to a liquor shop within Nakuru town together with another police officer who is still at large.
