Man accused of killing nurse pleads not guilty

A man who allegedly shot and killed a nurse at Chiromo Lane Medical Center in Parklands, Nairobi has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.

This was after the court was told that the accused, Joseph Njoroge Mungai, is fit to stand trial based on a report presented in court showing he had gone to the hospital for alcohol detoxification.

According to the charge sheet, Mungai shot and killed 43-year-old nurse Faustine Mwandime Mwandliu at about 7:20pm at Chiromo Lane Medical Center in Parklands, Nairobi.

The matter will be mentioned on January 15 for the court to issue directions on his bail application.

The suspect had been arraigned in court on December 8, 2017 but he did not take plea after he told the court he is unwell. The court directed that he be treated at the Industrial Area health facility.
