Man accused of murdering wife in Samburu

A 30-year-old woman has been found dead in an abandoned house at Changaa estate of Maralal Town, Samburu County.

The deceased is suspected to have been murdered by the husband over a marriage squabble.

According to an immediate neighbor, Rose Lakono, the couple broke into a fight on Friday night after a drinking spree.

“We suspect they fought the whole night because by the time we woke up their house was closed. I immediately suspected something was wrong since normally they don’t leave their house before 10 am,’’ said Leakono.

A friend to the deceased, only identified as Rose, said the deceased had earlier said that her husband had vowed to kill her that night.

“I warned her not to go back to the house until her husband calmed down, but she insisted that he was only drunk,’’ said Rose

According to Leakono, the husband always turned violent when he was under the influence.

Confirming the incident, Assistant Chief Selina Lemakara urged  the residents to abstain from drug abuse and excessive alcohol consumption.

The body of the late has been moved to Samburu county referral hospital mortuary for post mortem.
