Man arraigned for allegedly raping 5-year-old niece in Embu

A 28-year-old man was this week arraigned at an Embu court for allegedly raping his five-year-old girl niece.

Patrick Gitonga Rwire reportedly waylaid the girl from her from a shop in July and allegedly raped her inside a maize plantation.

The court heard that Rwire on diverse dates in July at Kirigi village “intentionally and unlawfully assaulted the minor by using his fingers to penetrate her vagina.”

After the dreadful incident, the girl’s mother only realised what had happened when she was bathing her.

When she inquired about it, the girl said it was her uncle.

The matter was reported at the Manyatta Police Station and the suspect arrested.
