Man arrested for allegedly hacking friend to death

A 26-year-old man is being held at Bondo Police Station after he was arrested for allegedly hacking his friend to death.

Gregory Goro Achola was arrested in connection with the death of Daniel Ochieng’ Owuor,25.

According to the area Assistant Chief Walter Ochieng Omolo, the suspect had visited his friend and found him fighting the mother.

It is alleged that the victim had injured his mother with a panga (machete) on her left arm and this is what prompted the suspect to step in.

The assistant chief said Achola also got injured after a fight ensued between the two men.

He snatched the panga from his friend and cut  him on the neck killing him instantly, Mr. Ochieng added.

Speaking to Radio Ramogi on Saturday, the assistant chief revealed that the suspect fled the scene upon realizing what he had done.

He was later arrested at around 2a.m. in Bar-Ogong’o sub-location within the neighboring sub-county of Alego/Usonga following a tip off from members of the public.

The body has since been moved to the Bondo Sub-county Hospital mortuary as investigations continue.

Achola is to be arraigned in court on Monday next week.
