Man arrested for cohabiting with class 7 girls

A 23-year-old man from Malikini Village in Riakanau Sub-Location, Embu County was arrested on Tuesday after authorities discovered that he was co-habiting with two underage girls.

The man, who makes a living by selling miraa in Musingini Market, was housing two class seven girls who had been reported missing last month.

Area Chief Kimeu Musyimi confirmed the incident saying that the two girls went missing from their homes on 12 November 2015.

Police arrested the 23-year-old after they discovered that he has been living with the schoolgirls.

The suspect has been locked up at Karaba Police Station.

This is not the first time that a man has been arrested for living with a minor.

Last month a 21-year-old from Makuri Sub Location, Maara District was arrested for defilement after authorities found that he was living with Form Three student.

Frank Kinoti was apprehended by police when a 17-year-old, who had been reported missing for three weeks, was found in his home.

When interrogated by police, the Form Three student reveled that she was expecting Kinoti’s child.

Despite claims that the two were in love, police arrested Kinoti for defilement.

The legal age of consent in Kenya is 18, and any person found having sexual relations with a minor can be prosecuted for defilement.
