Man arrested for defrauding a bishop of Ksh 1.5 million

A Kerugoya businessman has been arrested for allegedly defrauding a church bishop of over Ksh 1.5 million.

33-year-old Danson Njoroge Muturi is said to have obtained the money from Bishop Joshua Kiongo Kimani of Kirinyaga Full Gospel Church, promising to buy and deliver a car to him.

When the car was not delivered on the time agreed upon, the Bishop realized that he had fallen to the fast-talking saleman’s attempt to defraud him.

According to Kirinyaga County deputy commander Charles Ontita, the businessman was given the amount on 16th April this year in agreement that he will buy the vehicle.

Ontita has urged residents to beware of unknown car dealers in Kirinyaga county.

Muturi is currently being held at Kerugoya police station awaiting to be charged today.
