Man arrested trying to steal from vehicle parked outside DCI headquarters

A 35-year-old man was on Tuesday arrested for allegedly attempting to steal from a vehicle parked outside the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Nairobi.

According to police, Wilson Kithome Muinde from Utawala area was caught trying to remove the vehicle’s spare wheel.

He is set to be arraigned in court to face charges of attempting to commit a criminal offence.

Section 389 of the penal code states that anyone who attempts to commit an offence is liable to half the punishment of the offence he/she attempted.

“Any person who attempts to commit a felony or a misdemeanour is guilty of an offence and is liable, if no other punishment is provided, to one-half of such punishment as may be provided for the offence attempted, but so that if that offence is one punishable by death or life imprisonment he shall not be liable to imprisonment for a term exceeding seven years,” states the law.
