Man attacks family, kills 6-year-old brother
A 32-year-old man who is suspected of murdering his younger brother and assaulting his parents at Kaler, Nyatike has been detained at Migori Police Station.
According to area Chief John Opiyo, Ishmael Odongo attacked his family after his 72-year-old father refused to give him money.
Opiyo said the suspect pounced on his elderly dad, Henry Odongo, beating him badly.
When his father’s 32-year-old wife, Marcela Mukeria, attempted to rescue her husband, the enraged man attacked her as well.
The night took a tragic turn when Odongo bludgeoned his 6-year-old brother to death.
Confirming the incident, Nyatike OCPD Dishon Chebaka said the deceased was sleeping when the suspect attacked him on his bed and killed him using a blunt object.
Chebaka said the police managed to corner the suspect in his hideout and arrested him, saying that he would be arraigned before court on Monday next week.
He added that the parents of the suspect were now receiving treatment at Migori Level Four Hospital, while the body of the deceased was preserved in the hospital’s mortuary.
Chebaka said police were investigating the matter.
