Man beats 4-year-old daughter to death in Gem, flees from scene

A 40-year-old man is in police custody over allegedly killing his 4-year-old daughter in Gombe, Gem Constituency.

Bernard Omondi Owuor was arrested after he allegedly beat Perez Anyango following a domestic quarrel with his wife Mary Adhiambo.

According to Powo Village Assistant Chief William Okingo Owiti, the suspect is said to have returned at home in a drunken stupor on Saturday night.

The Assistant Chief was told that the man got into a fight with his wife and started beating her up.

She however managed to escape with their three children to a neighbor’s home where they spent the night there.

They returned home in the morning hoping to find he has sobered up but he locked them up inside the house and started beating them up.

She again escaped but this time went to the chief’s office to report the matter.

When she returned home she found that one of her children had been beaten senseless and succumbed to her injuries.

She raised the alarm and the administrator was called to the scene.

He alerted the police who later moved the girl’s body to the mortuary at Bondo Sub-County Hospital awaiting a postmortem.

The suspect who had fled from the scene was later arrested and taken to Akala Police Station.
