Man brutally murdered in raid on village in Naivasha

One man was brutally murdered and three houses torched in a raid on Kongoni village in Naivasha County by suspected Maasai morans over a land dispute.

According to villagers, the man was beheaded and his body mutilated and displayed in the village before the morans setting fire to three houses.

A court in Naivasha County had previously placed a restraining order on the Maasai Morans over the unsettled land dispute.

“They came, burnt our houses, killed the man, as we watched helplessly,” said one villager.

Police in the area however intervened to provide security at the disputed valley and are now planning to begin disarming the residents as the raid was conducted using guns.

“It is something that we need to do. The solution is not to arm the rival villagers but to disarm the morans. But as we do that, we will provide security in this valley and ensure everyone stays within their borders,” said Naivasha OCP Titus Munyoki.
