Man burnt to death by lover in Eldoret

A middle-aged man was on Sunday burnt to death by his lover in Shauri Estate in Eldoret town.

Samuel Njagi is said to have had a nasty domestic squabble with his lover on Saturday evening, which culminated in his lover dousing him with petrol while he slept before setting him on fire.

Neighbours who responded to Ngagi’s cries for help rushed him to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police are in pursuit of the suspect who took off after committing the crime.

According to the deceased’s daughter, Mary Ngagi, the perpetrator was their house help before becoming his father’s lover after the death of their mother.

Mary said that they (she and her siblings) had a frosty relationship with their fathers’ lover who was opposed to their presence in their home.

“Our relationship was bad especially between me and my elder brother and her since she has been mistreating our younger siblings,” said Ms Ngagi.

Following the incident, residents of Shauri Estate have appealed to couples in the area to embrace civil solutions to marital differences.
