A man was on Thursday arraigned before a Nairobi court to answer to cyber-crime charges after allegedly gaining access to Family Bank’s systems and attempting to steal from the financial institution.

Geoffrey Oduor Ojow alias Jojo Odukuzi alias Jeff Mzee, an alleged hacker, was charged with unauthorized access to computer data contrary to the law.

The court heard that Mr. Oduor – on diverse dates between November 1, 2018 and January 20, 2019 — unlawfully remotely gained access to Family Bank Limited networks systems thereby infringing their information security measures.

Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Zainab Abdul, Mr. Oduor pleaded not guilty to the charges, further praying for leniency in granting bail/bond terms.

He was released on a cash bail of Ksh.300,000 with an alternative bond of Ksh.500,000.

The case was set for hearing on September 26, 2019.
