Man charged with human trafficking freed on Ksh.500K cash bail

A man was on Tuesday morning arraigned before a Nairobi court and charged with human trafficking and forgery.

Dismas Young was accused of recruiting one Gladys Kathini Mwangani by means of deception for the purpose of exploitation between February 7 and June 1, 2019, at Information House on Mfangano Street.

He was further charged with two more counts of making a document without authority contrary to Section 357 (A) of the Penal Code.

The court heard that the accused, without lawful authority or excuse and with intent to deceive, made a National Employment Authority certificate purporting it to be genuine.

“On unknown date and time within the Republic of Kenya, with intent to deceive, without lawful authority or excuse, (the accused) made a police clearance certificate purporting it to be a genuine certificate issued by the Director of Criminal Investigations,” read court documents.

Appearing before Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi, Young – through his lawyer – prayed for lenient bail terms.

He was released on a cash bail of Ksh.500,000 or an alternative bond of Ksh.1,000,000.

The case was set for hearing on August 6, 2019.
