Man Charged With Rape, Murder Of Minor Released

27-year old Salim Khalid alias Baba Habib was charged with raping and murder of the minor

The suspect is alleged to have committed the offense in Scheme Estate in Kakamega county before dumping the body in a sewer

The suspect was charged before Justice Anthony Charo

He was charged after being confirmed to be of sound mind.

He was however released on a one million Kenya shillings bond with a surety of similar amount.

Kakamega residents have blamed security apparatus for failing to combat insecurity in the area

Three such killings targetting children have been reported in the area in the last 9 months provoking protests from locals and their leaders

The case will come up for hearing on the 27thDec 2014 after the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
