Man commits suicide, leaves note warning wife against remarrying

A man from Kangai village in Mwea-West, Kirinyaga County, has committed suicide, leaving a note warning his wife against getting married to another man.

24-year-old Elias Chomba, who was a boda-boda operator, is reported to have been in a relatively jovial mood minutes before he took his life by ingesting an insecticide.

His shocked family said they were not aware of any feud involving the deceased and anyone else that might have led to him committing suicide.

According to Kathiga Chief Jeremiah Muriithi, the deceased’s suicidal note also warned neighbouring men against “playing around” with his wife.

“Elias’ reasons for committing suicide remain unknown. He, however, left a note saying his wife should be given maximum protection by the family, and that the plot of land he was supposed to be given by his mother to be given to a certain Macharia who is, in turn, expected to act as his wife’s guardian,” said Mr. Muriithi.

“The victim was a bodaboda operator in the area,” added Mr. Muriithi.

Mr. Chomba’s body was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home awaiting a postmortem.
