Man, daughter shot dead in Trans Nzoia

Detectives in Trans Nzoia County are investigating the killing of a Kenya Police reservist together with his three-year-old daughter who were shot at close range while asleep in their house at Chepchoina village.

The killers did not steal anything from Zakayo Rotino’s house, raising suspicions that he was executed for unknown reasons.

The gunmen are reported to have made their way knocking several doors before landing on Rotino’s door.

With the gunmen reported to have stayed behind and collected bullet shells, leaders in the area are pointing an accusing finger at the police.

However, area OCPD Shadrack Ruto disputed the claims asking the leaders and members of the public to be patient.

The wife of the deceased had been admitted in hospital after experiencing labour pains and she was therefore not at home during the incident.

Tension remains high as villagers question the motive of the killings given that the assailants did not steal anything from rotino’s home. It is said that unknown people had on Thursday visited the area and specifically took photos of rotinos house.
