Man defiles 9-month-old infant in Samburu
A young man who allegedly defiled a nine-month-old baby girl on Wednesday 26th April evening in Maralal, Samburu County has been arrested.
The infant’s grandmother had left her alone with the young man, only to find that the baby had been abused.
The little girl was quickly rushed to Samburu County Referral hospital for treatment. Attending doctor, Duke Mogaka said the infant had severe injuries.
“The baby’s private parts were bleeding when she was admitted. We have assessed her and recommended reconstructive surgery to restore the muscles that had been torn during defilement,” said Mogaka.
Dr Mogaka said that the suspect tested negative for venereal diseases, leading doctors to believe that the child has not infected.
Confirming the incident, Maralal OCPD Abaggarro Guyo said that the suspect is currently detained at Maralal Police Station as they carry out investigations.
He added that the suspect will be taken to court as soon as police conclude investigations into the matter.
“We received information that there is a young man who defiled a baby he had been left with in the house with. We have detained the suspect here for interrogation and further investigations as doctors examine the nature of harm caused,” said Guyo.
However, Guyo advised residents against leaving their children with suspicious people.
“Don’t leave children with suspicious young men whom their behavior is not clear. If possible look for a young woman or a mother,” he advised.
