Man defiles niece, 9, for two years, begs forgiveness

A 9-year-old girl in Bugambero Village of Migori County is seeking justice after her uncle repeatedly defiled her for two years, as her biological father turned a deaf ear to her plight.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the Standard two girl (name withheld) narrated how her father’s elder brother took away her innocence and inflicted psychological torture on her.

According to the girl, her nightmare started two years ago when her uncle grabbed her, tied her up in the house, and blocked her mouth before committing the atrocious act on her.

Although she confided in her father hoping he would save her from her monstrous uncle, her father neglected the girl, something which encouraged her uncle to continue tormenting her.

She painfully recalled when her father denied her basic needs saying her “husband” (uncle) should take care of her.

The culprit on Saturday pleaded guilty before an assembly of village elders and clan members, seeking to be forgiven by the public and clan elders.

The girl had been living with her father and uncle after her parents divorced.
