Man denies stealing chocolates, released on bail

A man has pleaded not guilty to stealing chocolates from a Nairobi supermarket.

Appearing before Milimani Court Magistrate Peter Ooko, Stephen Ndung’u Kariuki was charged that on May 1, 2018, at Choppies Supermarket along Tom Mboya Road in Nairobi, he stole nine pieces of Dairy Milk Chocolate.

The eight pieces retail for Ksh.2,745 each.

Prosecution told the court that on the said day, the suspect went into the supermarket and stole the chocolates after which he hid them in his undergarments.

He was, however, reportedly caught on camera by one of the security guards as he committed the act.

The suspect was released on a cash bail of Ksh.5,000 and the hearing for his case set for 14 days.
