Man discovers methane gas while drilling borehole in Kajiado
Kajiado County residents are in high spirits after a water official discovered methane gas while drilling a borehole.
Speaking to Citizen Digital, Kiloi Royimen said that he and several other county water officials were supervising a team that was drilling a borehole when they were informed of the existence of methane gas by the drillers.
“We were in the process of drilling a borehole but after realizing that we were not tapping into a sustainable source of water, the geologist in our team recommended that we conduct tests after which we continued with the drilling and that is when we stumbled upon the gas,” Royimen says.
Royimen, who was flanked by former Kajiado Senator Peter Mositet, said that engineers from the Kenya National Oil Corporation, Ministry of Mining representatives, County Government officials and other geologists have been in contact are expected at the site on Friday, October 5.
Mositet amazed by the development, urged the Ministry of Energy to conduct further explorations since the people could be sitting on valuable natural resources.
