Man fatally hacks widowed woman, dumps her body in a bush

Police in Kuria West, Migori County, are looking for a middle-aged man who has been linked to the murder of his lover following an alleged disagreement over spending of a microfinance loan the deceased had borrowed.

According to Kuria West OCPD, Evance Wanyonyi, the suspect, Samuel Rioba, hacked Mariam Muhiri to death after they differed on how to spend Sh26, 000 loan Ms Muhiri had borrowed from local microcredit facility.

Wanyonyi said police learnt of Ms Muhiri’s death after neighbours reported that they came across a woman’s dead body dumped in a bush a few metres away from the suspect’s house Wednesday morning.

According to neighbours Ms Muhiri escaped toward a nearby bush when she sensed her lover was going to harm her. The suspect however pursued her, hacking her severally on the head; leading to her demise.

The victim’s lifeless body which was discovered Wednesday was taken to Migori Level 4 Hospital.

Rioba inherited the late Ms Muhiri a few years ago after she lost her husband.
