Man fined Ksh 20,000 for assaulting chief

A middle aged man was on Wednesday fined Ksh 20,000 or serve a six month jail term for assaulting a Maralal Chief and causing her bodily harm.

Appearing before Maralal Principal Magistrate Abraham Gachie, Joseph Lekesike was accused that on November 15^th, 2015 in Maralal town allegedly slapped Mrs Selina Lemakara and hit her with a blunt object on the back causing her bodily harm.

Mrs Selina told the court that Mr Lekesike, who is her brother, attacked her while at their mothers’ house after the two disagreed on family matters.

The Magistrate said going by the witness accounts in court against the accused, it was enough to prove that he was guilty. He further said that the accused had no substantial ground to defend himself.

The accused asked for forgiveness, promising not to repeat the same mistake in future.
