Man found with KDF wares arrested

A man in Nakuru was arraigned in court on Monday after he was found in possession of an assortment of Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) wares.

Joseph Mwaura, 42, was arrested by Flying Squad officers in Lanet where police managed to recover an ammunition box, riffle cleaning oil, KDF uniforms, berets, mattresses and three new Land Rover canopies.

Mwaura appeared before Nakuru Chief Magistrate Joel Ng’eno where he pleaded not guilty and was released on a cash bail of Sh50,000.

The case will be heard on September 18, 2015.

This comes barely a week after a prison warder in Mandera was arrested after being found in possession of 300 rounds of live ammunition.

Police said the prison warder, identified as Abdi Nassir, would remain in custody to assist police with investigations.

The man was arrested from Mandera Police Station alongside a KDF officer who allegedly supplied him with the ammunition.

The two will be charged with theft and sale of the ammunition.
