Man Gets 25 Years in Jail for Defiling a Minor

Francis Nthigah was convicted by Embu Senior Resident Magistrate Munene Githinji, of intentionally and unlawfully touching the minor's private parts on May 21st, 2014 at Kithimu village in Embu North Sub-County.

The witnesses in the case narrated how Nthigah and another man who is also facing defilement charges in another court met three girls heading home at around 3pm and lured them into a nearby plantation and defiled them.

The court was told that one of the girls managed to escape and informed her parents what had happened.

The matter was reported to the police.

There have been many cases of men defiling minors in the country.

On April 4th, 2015, a man in Voi was sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling his 14 year old daughter.

Dominic Mbogho had been charged that on Septermber 17th, 2014, he had carnal knowledge of the minor.

The accused pleaded for leniency saying there were family obligations he needed to attend, but the judge said there was only one sentence which was life imprisonment.

In January 2014, a 39-year old man was jailed by an Embu court for life for defiling a seven-year old girl.

Martin Kagundu was convicted by chief magistrate Margaret Wachira of committing the offence against the minor on October 1, 2012 at Kavusore village in Embu North district.

Delivering her verdict, Wachira said prosecution witnesses who were lined up by prosecutor Mulamula Imbwaga proved that he committed the offense against the complainant.
