Man gets life sentence for defiling his 6-year-old sister

A middle-aged man was on Wednesday sentenced to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of defiling his six-year-old sister at Bararget village in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County.

Appearing before Molo Resident Magistrate Emmanuel Soita, the accused; Wesley Langat, was charged with sexually assaulting the young girl.

The accused also faced another charge of committing an indecent act with a child on the same dates.

He pleaded guilty to the offence blaming his actions on alcohol.

The court heard that on September 21 this year, one of the neighbours noticed that the 6-year-old was not playing well with other children and decided to inquire from her what was the problem.

The minor revealed that his elder brother had been defiling her at their father’s house when everyone was away and further threatened her not to disclose the act to anyone.

The concerned neighbor reported the matter to a ‘Nyumba Kumi’ official who later informed the police leading to Langat’s arrest and prosecution while the minor was taken to a health facility for medical examination.

The accused pleaded for leniency claiming that he was drunk when committing the offence.

The accused has 14 days to appeal.
