Man hacks another to death for marrying his ex-wife

Police in Kakamega have launched a manhunt for a man suspected of killing another at Kiwanja Ndege area in Lugari following a love triangle.

Confirming the incident, Lugari Police Boss Bernard Macharia said the suspect, Barnabas Ochunyi, allegedly stabbed the deceased, Edward Mamboleo, severally before fleeing, leaving him for dead. Mamboleo later succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.

“The culprit is a known man in this area and we are requesting the public to assist us in finding him,” said Macharia.

Ochunyi reportedly stabbed Mamboleo after his wife got married him following their separation.

The incident comes just three months after a 21-year-old girl was accused of stabbing her boyfriend over a feud sparked by a text message at Buruburu in Nairobi.

According to Buruburu OCPD Richard Kerich, police launched investigations to determine the chronology of events that led to the death of 24-year-old Faridi Mohamed, with the girl, Kamanda Wanjiru, remaining the prime suspect.

In another incident in August, a man hacked his wife using a machete before escaping at Kimana area in Kajiado County.

According to area Chief Joseph Lalaito, Kamau Chege and his wife had been involved in domestic rows for the last three months before the incident.

Cases of domestic violence have been reported in various towns, with activists calling for an attitude change to reduce such incidents.
