Man in hospital after swallowing toothbrush

A 34-year-old man from Ganze, Kilifi County is in hospital awaiting surgery after he swallowed a toothbrush.

David Charo, a father of two from Bamba village, is admitted at the Coast General Hospital after swallowing the instrument while brushing his teeth.

According to Charo’s brother, despite rushing him to hospital for emergency surgery, nothing has happened to him save for an xray to confirmed he had the toothbrush in him.

The family fears that the longer the brush stays lodged in his body and is not removed, the more likely it is to do a lot of internal damage.

They are contemplating taking him to a private hospital which they say cannot afford.
