Man killed in club fire as police gun down robbers
A 20-year-old man was killed and property worth millions destroyed after a fire razed down a club in Kikambala, Mombasa Thursday night.
The fire spread from the club to the neighboring Edelweiss Hotel where three cottages went up in flames.
According to the club management, the man who died in the incident is the hotel owner’s son who was trying to switch on a generator after a power blackout hit the area.
The 20 year old was rushed to Jocham hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
Elsewhere, police in Kiambu have shot dead three suspected robbers who invaded the Kidfarmaco estate in Kikuyu town Friday morning.
According to Kikuyu OCPD Birgen Kiptoo, police – who were on patrol – responded to distress calls from residents and gunned down the suspects.
Kiptoo lauded continued cooperation between members of the public and police in the fight against crime in the area.
