Man kills 41-year-old neighbour for allegedly snatching his wife

Police in Matayos Constituency, Busia County, are searching for a suspect who hacked to death a 41-year-old man for allegedly snatching his wife from him.

Confirming the Tuesday 8pm incident, Nasewa Location Chief Stephen Wawire said the suspect identified as Geoffrey Mukhwaya accosted the 41-year-old man while he (victim) was riding a motorbike and hacked him several times around his head with a panga.

The man died on the spot and was found lying in a pool of blood by police who arrived at the scene.

According to the chief, the two men, who were neighbours, were embroiled in a dispute over a woman, who was reportedly married to the suspect, before she moved out to live with the 41-year-old.

“The two were fighting over a woman who was once married to Geoffrey but we understand that she left him,” said the Chief.

The body of the deceased was moved to the Busia County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
